Our Charities

Through our contributions with the Frederick N. Griffith Foundation and Tissue Banks International (TBI)—one of the world's largest non-profit distributors of human corneal tissue—we believe ourselves to be living truly fulfilled lives, whether at the office or overseas.

John J. is currently on the board of TBI and has been involved with TBI in many capacities for the last 20 years, while Traudy actively serves as chair of Operation Eye Rescue/Rotary Eye Rescue—a program providing corneas to people in need, at no cost—and both are trustees of the Frederick N. Griffith Foundation. John and Traudy have traveled globally, helping to establish corneal eye banks in developing countries. Keeping up the family tradition, John S. has been involved in fund raising for TBI through participating in fund raisers ranging from charitable events to marathons and polar plunging into the icy Atlantic.

In 2004, when the Financial Planning Association of New Jersey sought to present the first New Jersey Humanitarian Award, John and Traudy received the award for the work they did to reduce corneal blindness around the world. They actively circumvented the globe in their work on this.

TBI/Tissue Banks International has been honoring the gift of eye and tissue donation for over 50 years.
